Songs of Conquest is a turn based fantasy strategy game based on the cult classic heroes of Might and magic II. This is the debut project of the Swedish studio lavapotion, and the team Coffee Stain helped in the work.

Songs of Conquest PC – Review:

The player takes the form of a ruler whose task is to take control of the fantasy land. To do this, we must grow our kingdom, take care of the economy, recruit armies and use a rich selection of spells. Our responsibilities are not limited to strategic tasks. The game is enriched by RPG elements, requiring the management of heroes exploring the world, completing tasks and acquiring treasures. Both the management of the country and the struggle take place in a turn-based system.

During skirmishes in Songs of Conquest PC soldiers are led by our heroes: powerful magicians called “wielders”, possessing magic known as “essence”. By combining the skills of magicians with the essence of soldiers, we get access to a variety of spells – and different units have their characteristic essence, so it is worth taking care of their safety, since our magical arsenal depends on them. The clashes are tactically complex and require the proper use of formations and unique features and abilities of all units.

One of the most interesting elements of Songs of Conquest PC is the artwork. It was made in a retro style full of large pixels, but it was done in such a way that slight changes in perspective are possible when manipulating the camera, and the image is enhanced by dynamic light effects. Thanks to this, the whole makes a less static impression than typical 2D productions.
